Understanding Our New World - Dr. Evelyn Farkas
Dr. Evelyn Farkas, executive director of the McCain Institute and foreign policy analyst will join the Institute on April 1st at 2:00 p.m. CT for our Understanding Our New World series via Zoom.
She will discuss her career in international affairs, the McCain Institute's commitment to advancing character-driven leadership around the world, and the national security challenges facing the United States.
She will also cover the urgent need to bolster American democracy, advance human rights, and support Ukraine as it responds to Russia’s invasion.
Leading Chicago Business Executive to Reflect on His Career as a Path-Breaking Entrepreneur
John W. Rogers, Jr., a nationally respected entrepreneur based in Chicago, will join the Institute on Thursday, April 11, at 5:00 p.m. CT.
He will participate in an evening conversation with Institute Director John Shaw about the lessons he has learned during his path-breaking career in business and public service.
Rogers is the founder and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, which is the first Black-owned asset management firm in the United States. Ariel manages nearly $15 billion in assets. Rogers is from Hyde Park, graduated from Princeton University, and founded Ariel Investments in 1983, just three years after graduating from college.
Award-Winning Journalist to Discuss The Challenges and Opportunities Confronting America's Media
Scott Simon, host of Weekend Edition Saturday on NPR, will join the Institute on Wednesday, April 17th, at 6:00 p.m. CT.
During the day, he will meet with students and faculty to discuss his career in journalism and participate in an evening discussion with Institute Director John Shaw.
Simon is a Peabody and Emmy award-winning broadcaster, commentator, and author. Mr. Simon is a native of Chicago and joined NPR in 1977 as chief of its Chicago bureau. The Washington Post has called his show “the most literate, witty, moving, and just plain interesting news show on any dial.”
