Attention SIUC Students!
Then sign up for Pizza and Politics at the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute – the site for politics on the SIUC campus.
Think you’d like to run for office someday? Or run a political campaign? Maybe work for a political leader? Go into government service? Cover and write about politicians and people in government?
Then you’ll want to join us for occasional informal pizza and politics sessions here at the Simon Institute.
We’ll explore topics like: What should you be doing with your life now to prepare for those careers? What goes into successful leadership? What are the dos and don’ts of those careers? How to get started? How do women and minorities deal with the special challenges they face as candidates and in government service? How to form networks? Meet like-minded campus political junkies.
Here’s how it works: From time to time, we’ll invite in leading political figures, journalists and public servants to share a slice of pizza with us and talk about their careers and what you could be doing now to shape yours.
Dates and times will vary, depending on the schedule of our guests. I’ll try for late afternoons, say from 4-5:30 ish so it doesn’t conflict with most classes or evening activities. If you are on our invitation list, we’ll send you a note about each session. You are welcome to attend all of them or only a few. This isn’t a class. No homework. No grades. Just politics and a little food.
To get on the invitation list, please e-mail Christina Rich at
